Introduction of the project in English
Russia’s war against Ukraine triggered a wave of refugees that swept across Europe in February 2022. Hungary was hit hard, with a surge of people comparable to the population of Budapest in just three months. Most of those who fled were women with children.
To help these families, we began volunteering at various educational spaces in Budapest. We entertained the children and provided stress relief, while also ensuring they could continue their education. Over the course of a year, we met dozens of children with special educational needs, including speech correction and mental and physical developmental correction.
With our experience working with these kids, we realized that a special space was necessary to support the large number of children with special educational needs. As a result, we have decided to launch a project to assist these children, which we’ve named AKSEN – Assistance to Kids with Special Educational Needs. We will begin small, by starting a correctional and special classes for children of elementary school age at one of educational premises in the Budapest area. Additionally, we will work with children of different age at a children’s center in town.
We also plan to publish information, interviews, and news that may be useful to parents of special needs children who have been displaced from Ukraine and are now living in Hungary or other European countries.

Війна Росії проти України спровокувала хвилю біженців, яка прокотилася Європою в лютому 2022 року. Угорщина не залишилась осторонь: всього за три місяці до країни прибуло стільки людей, що їх можна порівняти з населенням Будапешта. Більшість з тих, хто втік, були жінки з дітьми.
Щоб допомогти цим сім’ям, ми почали працювати волонтерами в різних освітніх закладах Будапешта. Ми розважали дітей, знімали стрес, а також забезпечували їм можливість продовжувати навчання. Протягом року ми познайомилися з десятками дітей з особливими освітніми потребами, включаючи корекцію мовлення та корекцію розумового і фізичного розвитку.
Маючи досвід роботи з цими дітьми, ми зрозуміли, що для підтримки великої кількості дітей з особливими освітніми потребами необхідний спеціальний простір. В результаті ми вирішили запустити проєкт допомоги таким дітям, який назвали AKSEN – Допомога дітям з особливими освітніми потребами. Ми почнемо з малого, відкривши корекційний і спеціальний класи для дітей з ООП молодшого шкільного віку в одному з навчальних приміщень в районі Будапешта. Крім того, ми працюватимемо з дітьми з ООП в одному з дитячих центрів розвитку в місті.
Ми також плануємо публікувати інформацію, інтерв’ю та новини, які можуть бути корисними для батьків дітей з особливими потребами, які були переміщені з України і зараз живуть в Угорщині або інших країнах Європи.
